Adam Lauver

Adam Lauver is an actor, writer, and comedian. He has been writing and performing original sketch comedy with his award-winning sketch trio, Comedy The Gathering, since 2022. Other comedy credits include Lancaster, PA-based sketch troupe Happy Time Explosion Show (2007 - 2012), online sketch duo Man In Shower (2013 - 2014), and the Improv College sketch team, SKATCH (2021-2022). His first book, an experimental play titled The Last Thing I'll Ever Write (Part One), was published by Pittsburgh-based press Plays Inverse in 2019 and acquired by 53rd State Press in 2023. Adam has co-facilitated workshops in prisons and jails on topics ranging from public speaking and forgiveness to creative writing and Shakespeare. His academic writing includes a book chapter on critical pedagogy in the prison classroom, a research study on vaccine hesitancy communication, and a rhetorical autoethnographic analysis of the HBO series The Leftovers. He is currently writing a book chapter on the intersection of humor and mental health. His full-time work centers on implementing a Housing First approach to homelessness informed by the principles of harm reduction, person-centered communication, and trauma-informed care.
